Werdum vs. Browne Winner Will Fight Cain Velasquez For The Title

It was revealed today that the winner of the UFC on FOX 11 face off between Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne set for this weekend in Orlando, Florida, will next take on heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez for the title when the UFC heads to Mexico for the very first time.

UFC President Dana White announced the plan on Thursday. The date for its Mexican debut has not yet been announced, but heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has long been considered the default headliner for such an event.

Werdum has slid neatly into title contention with three straight wins inside the octagon over Roy Nelson, Mike Russow and now Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Browne has picked up impressive back-to-back first round knockout wins over Gabriel Gonzaga and Alistair Overeem.
