Wanderlei Silva forced out of Akiyama fight; Chris Leben steps up

UFC President, Dana White has confirmed that Former PRIDE champion, Wanderlei Silva will not face Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 116 after the Brazilian suffered fractured ribs while training this week.

UFC middleweight heavy hitter, Chris Leben is set to take the place of the injured Wanderlei Silva and face Japanese superstar, Yoshihiro Akiyama on July 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Leben was just in action this past weekend, defeating Aaron Simpson via second round TKO at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale in Las Vegas.

As for Akiyama, is riding a eleven fight win streak, most recently defeating Alan Belcher in his UFC debut back in July last year.
