Fformer UFC light heavyweight champion, “The Phenom” Vitor Belfort will not be competing at UFC 122 against Yushin Okami. Nate Marquardt has already been lined up as a replacement to face the Japanese superstar.
Marquardt was looking good for another title shot with a three fught winning streak, defeating the likes of Martin Kampmann, Wilson Gouveia, and Demian Maia before running into a brick wall which was Chael Sonnen. “The Great” rebounded from that loss stopping Rousimar Palhares in the first round just days ago.
With news of Sonnen’s drug indiscretion, the fight between Belfort and Okami had been made a number one contenders fight, something Marquardt is likely a part of now.
