Vinicius Quieroz cut from the UFC after testing positive following UFC 120

Brazilian heavyweight stand-out, Vinicius Quieroz has been released from his contract with the UFC after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs following his UFC 120 bout with Rob Broughton.

The news was confirmed by the UFC’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner. UK UFC President, Marshall Zelaznik revealed the Brazilian had forfeited his discretionary bonus and has since been cut.

The drug he tested positive for was Stanozolol, a synthetic anabolic steroid derived from testosterone. The drug is used extensively in the bodybuilding world, although well known fighters such as Phil Baroni, Chris Leben, Kimo Leopoldo and Tim Sylvia have tested positive for it in the past.
