UFC signs Michihiro Omigawa to a multi-fight contract, will debut vs. Chad Mendes early 2011

The UFC have made a major addition to their featherweight division after they agreed to terms with top rated Japanese star, Michihiro Omigawa to compete inside the octagon early next year.

According to Versus.com the Japanese star will debut in either February or March against undefeated Team Alpha Male fighter, Chad Mendes, with the winner likely to get a shot at the 145 pound title.

Omigawa is on a five fight winning streak since dropping to the featherweight division, beating Hatsu Hioki, Cole Escovedo, Marlon Sandro and Nam Phan in that time. He previously competed in the UFC’s lightweight ranks back in 2007-2008, losing back-to-back fights to Thiago Tavares and Matt Wiman at the time.
