UFC middleweight, Aaron Simpson hospitalised with a serious staph infection

UFC middleweight, Aaron Simpson has been hospitalised in the last week with a serious staph infection, something that is likely to keep him out of action indefinitely.

David Martin, of the Martin Advisory Group and Simpson’s manager, speaking with MMAWeekly.com, said:

“He was in sparring with (Ryan) Bader and tore a little cartilage, didn’t break his nose, said he tore a little cartilage in his nose, and it got infected and swelled up. It really swelled up bad. He had a little bit of staph or something in his nose, and that got into his blood stream.”

“He’s a had a little bit of a elbow issue in the past, so it’s kind of a vulnerable area for him if you will, and the staph got into his blood and settled into his elbow. His elbow just swelled up bad. He couldn’t take anymore, he went into the emergency room and ended up having a little big of minor surgery. He’s going to be in an IV for 4 to 6 weeks, and he’ll be in the hospital for a couple of days with some form of staph. They don’t know what it is yet.”

“He was just starting his camp full time with Bader and C.B. (Dollaway), they’re preparing for September 25, so all three guys were in camp, he hurt it sparring and here we are today. There’s nobody more disappointed than Aaron Simpson. He was eager to get back in there after his first loss.”
