UFC’s second trip to Abu Dhabi scrapped for return to Newark, New Jersey

The UFC’s second trip to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates has been scrapped, with the timing of the event and the climate being blamed for the decision, the promotion will look to revisit the idea later in 2011.

This comes after the news that current UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and former UFC light heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans will face each other in a light heavyweight main event title fight, originally rumoured for the second trip to Abu Dhabi, now in line for the main event at UFC 129 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on March 19th, 2011

The promotion is looking to make Abu Dhabi a regular stint after Flash Entertainment, a subsidiary of the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, purchased a 10 percent holding in the UFC earlier this year.
