Thiago Tavares injured, newcomer Waylon Lowe vs. Melvin Guillard at UFC 114

Thiago Tavares has been forced out of his bout with Melvin Guillard at UFC 114 after suffering an elbow injury in training.

Tavares was last seen fighting to a majority draw against Nik Lentz after a point was deducted at UFC Fight Night 20.

155lb newcomer Waylon Lowe has agreed to step in and face ‘The Young Assassin’ on May 29th.

Waylon Lowe (8-2) is currently riding a six-fight win streak fighting for Bellator Fighting Championships and KOTC. Most recently, Lowe finished UFC veteran Steve Berger with a first-round knockout in April in the KOTC promotion. Lowe also appeared on seaosn nine of TUF.

Alex Davis, the manager of Tavares, speaking to, said:

“Thiago just can’t seem to catch a break. This would have been a great fight.”
