Suzuki Is Confident He Will Beat Askren

In two short weeks, ONE FC Welterweight Champion Nobutatsu Suzuki is facing off for his title against NCAA wrestler Ben Askren. The fight will be ONE FC’s first ever show in Dubai. As always, Suzuki is not letting other peoples opinions get to him. He said he is looking forward to the challenge and is confident that he will come out on top.

During a recent interview Suzuki talked about his title and his upcoming fight with Askren, heres what he had to say:

On becoming the ONE FC Champion:

“When I won the title, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment but at the same time I also felt like I am standing on the starting line. It’s just the beginning,” Suzuki said.

“I was celebrating every night for about one month. Honestly, when I won the belt, I felt more sense of relief than happiness, but when everyone celebrated my success I was really happy about it and that gave me more energy to face the next fight.”

On how he plans to defeat Askren:

“In this fight against Ben, I will use my karate skills and perfectly KO him and prove that I am second to none.”

On being the underdog in this fight:

“I remember how everyone spoke about my undefeated record and then I ended up experiencing a loss,” Suzuki confessed. “Anyone will have to face a defeat one day and this will be Askren’s turn.”

“Whether it’s Ben, Brock, or Phil, it is no different for me. I just have to face their tactics and prove that I am better”.
