Sudden Victory Rounds Will Separate Flyweight Tourney Semi-Finals if Needed

It has been announced that the UFC will use Sudden Victory rounds for the flyweight semi-final tournament bouts at UFC on FX 2 in Sydney, Australia on March 3rd, 2012.

UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner, speaking via Fighters Only Magazine, said:

“This is a tournament so yes if the fight is a draw we would go to a Sudden Victory round,”

The last time the Sudden Victory round was used was on “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show as they are only two round exhibition fights.

The UFC’s flyweight division will debut March 3rd with a four-man tournament to determine the company’s first-ever 125-pound champion. Demetrious Johnson will face Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez will meet Yasuhiro Urushitani at March’s UFC on FX 2 event.
