Strikeforce heads to Japan for 2nd round of Heavyweight WGP Quarter-finals

The second round of quarter final bouts in the Strikeforce heavyweight world grand prix will indeed take place somewhere in Japan as the California based promotion looks to take advantage of popularity ofthe sport in the Far East.

The fights will include current Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem attempt to avenge a past defeat to Brazilian submission wizard, Fabricio Werdum, while former UFC heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett looks to progress past heavy handed brawler, Brett Rogers.

This according to MMA-Japan.com:

Strikeforce will make their Japanese debut April 10th, 2011 during the afternoon hours in order to be shown live in the United States. The fight card will consist of a lightweight portion, and the heavyweight grand prix second round. Strikeforce will be working with Real Entertainment and possibly M-1 to co-promote the planned event.
