Big Country & Carwin and Pearson & Sotiropoulos Named as TUF Coaches

UFC heavyweights, Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin will serve as coaches on the sixteenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show as the Las Vegas based promotion goes back to the pre-taped format. As well the names of the two men set to coach the upcoming “The Ultimate Fighter: UK vs. Australia” series have been revealed, with Ross Pearson and George Sotiropoulos named by UFC President, Dana White last night on FUEL TV. Both fighters will begin taping the show in the coming days and will square off inside the octagon against each other at the end of the series. The fight will likely be a lightweight bout, with both men looking to rebound from recent losses. TUF: UK vs. Australia will feature lightweights and welterweights.

Nelson is 2-1 in his last three, defeating Mirko Cro Cop and Dave Herman while losing to Fabricio Werdum. Carwin hasn’t been seen since UFC 131 last June when he lost to Junior dos Santos via unanimous decision. Back injuries have forced him out of regular competition

Pearson suffered a second round TKO defeat at the hands of Cub Swanson last month at UFC on FX 4. Sotiropoulos has lost his last two fights inside the octagon including a quick knockout loss to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 132. Prior to that he won eight fights straight.
