Rematch: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua Reveals Game Plan To Defeat Jon Jones

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has revealed the changes he will make when he meets current champ, Jon Jones again down the line, explaing he needs to take “Bones” to the mat and keep him there.

Rua, speaking via Fighters Only Magazine, said:

“I don’t make excuses for my losses. Instead, I use them as motivation, as a mistake I made. It’s up to me to bounce back. My biggest goal is to fight for the belt again versus Jon Jones. It’s my great dream. Jones is a very tall fighter. It’s difficult landing a hit on him and to close the distance. He’s a young man who didn’t lose yet, he is well-rounded and very good in wrestling. Next time I have got to try to take him down, work out Muay Thai, close the distance or try to keep him on the ground.”

“I did what I had to be done. Maybe I would change my posture. Think I should have been more cautious. I stepped in throwing many knees. I don’t want to cry over the spilt milk but I could have entered a bit more into the fight.”
