Randy Couture to Retire at UFC 129 in Toronto, ON – Win, Lose, or Draw

The 55,000 fans in attendance at Toronto’s Roger’s Centre will most likely witness the end of one of MMA’s greatest careers at UFC 129 on April, 30th, 2011, after it was revealed that despite any earlier comments, UFC Hall of Famer and former two-division champion, Randy “The Natural” Couture has again officially announced his retirement.

According to Couture, who reconfirmed is intention to retire at today’s UFC 129 pre-fight press conference, the decision was not based on injury or an inability to compete at his highest level. In fact, it’s the exact opposite; he wants to retire because he is still healthy and competitive.

Couture, speaking at the UFC 129 pre-fight press conference, said:

“I feel healthy, I feel great. I can still compete at this level. I just don’t want to stretch it. I don’t want to wait until I have that injury and have doctors telling me I can’t fight anymore. I want to enjoy the rest of my life right now, I don’t want to wait too long…It’s time to focus on the other things I’ve got going on in my life after this fight. I’ve pushed it pretty far. I don’t think anyone is going to push it as far as I have over the last fourteen years.”
