Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s Last Fight in the UFC will be Mauricio “Shogun” Rua

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will get his cake and eat it to. After expressing he wants out of the Las Vegas promtion, “Rampage” will not only get his last fight and release from the UFC it will be a rematch against fellow PRIDE veteran, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, a match he has asked for on more than one occasion. According to UFC President, Dana White the two sides have decided to part ways following Jackson’s final fight on his current deal.

Jackson has won three of his last five fights, defeating Lyoto Machida and Matt Hamill, and coming up short agaainst Rashad Evans, Jon Jones and Ryan Bader. The former champs stoppage was back at UFC 92 in December 2008 when he defeated Wanderlei Silva in the very first round.

Rua has won two of his last five bouts, defeating Lyoto Machida and Forrest Griffin, and losing to Lyoto Machida, Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. He defeated Jackson via first round TKO back in 2005 when they both competed under the PRIDE FC banner.

Lorenzo Fertitta, speaking via Yahoo! Sports, said:

“He has one more fight on his contract and our position is that he’s contractually obligated to take a fight and fulfil his obligation, just as he’d expect us to fulfil our obligation. He is, to some extent, still a draw. An interesting fight we’d like to make, one we’ve talked about, would be him and Shogun. I think that would be an interesting fight. They’re both coming off a loss, they have a history and they have both expressed interest in the fight in the past.”
