ProElite: Arlovski and Grove Win, Reagan Penn Lives Up to the Hype

ProElite’s first event went off without a hitch as former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, “Ultimate Fighter” season three winner Kendall Grove and brother of “The Prodigy” pulled off wins in Hawaii.

Arlovski controlled his fight with Ray Lopez dominating both on the feet and whenever it went to the ground. “The Pitbull” rained down unanswered shots that the referee finally stopped the fight giving Arlovski the TKO win in the third round. Grove avenged the first loss of his career to veteran, Joe Riggs with a first minute standing guillotine choke. Riggs had shot in looking for the takedown but “Da Spyder” was able to use his length to crank the neck for the tap.

It was the debut of Reagan Penn, brother of UFC legend BJ Penn, who faced Paul Gardiner who surprised the Hawaiian with a quick takedown. Penn locked up a guillotine before quickly switching to the back when he locked up a rear-naked choke and forced the submission.
