Press Conference Announcement; Two world titles at stake at MFC 28: Supremacy

The Maximum Fighting Championship makes its season-debut in spectacular fashion with a pair of world title fights, and we are pleased to invite the media to the official press conference for MFC 28: Supremacy.

The press conference will take place on Wednesday, February 23 at 12:30 p.m. at Sage Restaurant in the River Cree Resort and Casino. Lunch will be provided.

MFC 28: Supremacy goes down on Friday, February 25 at the River Cree Resort and Casino, just outside Edmonton, Alberta, and will air live on HDNet Fights throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich will be the featured speaker at the press conference and he will be alongside the biggest names on the card including the fighters who are vying for both the MFC world light-heavyweight and world lightweight titles.

The MFC 28: Supremacy boasts co-main events during which four fighters will have the chance to wear MFC championship gold.

The showdown for the vacant MFC light-heavyweight title marks a rare occasion as two Canadian fighters will battle for the belt. Ultra-popular Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis (13-6) of Fort McMurray, Alberta, who is one of the MFC’s greatest fan favorites, will take on top-ranked Ryan “The Big Deal” Jimmo (13-1) of Edmonton, Alberta, who is riding a 13-fight winning streak into his first championship bout.

Lewis, who has won 10 of his last 11 fights, leads all competitors with 13 appearances in the MFC ring and he has compiled one of the most-impressive records as well by earning eight wins via knockout and three more by submission.

Jimmo has gone unbeaten since 2007 and holds a decision win over Lewis from their original encounter from that same year. Jimmo has scored career wins over such notables as Wilson Gouveia, Emanuel Newton, and Marvin Eastman.
In the other co-main event, reigning MFC world lightweight champion Antonio “Mandingo” McKee (25-4-2) of Lakewood, California, defends his title against top contender and exciting submission specialist Drew “Night Rider” Fickett (40-13) from Tucson, Arizona.
McKee, one of the most outspoken and durable stars in the sport mixed martial arts, will look to defend his MFC crown for the second time. McKee is unbeaten in the Maximum Fighting Championship with victories over Derrick Noble, Carlo Prater, and Luciano Azevedo.
Fickett is having a true renaissance as a fighter, coming back in 2010 to record four consecutive and dynamic wins including verdicts over former MFC title challengers Derrick Noble and Carlo Prater. Fickett holds notable career wins over Josh Koscheck, Kenny Florian, and Dennis Hallman.
Along with Jimmo, another home-town standout will get his shot in the spotlight at MFC 28 as young star Sheldon Westcott (4-1) of Edmonton, Alberta, takes on iconic veteran Thomas “Wildman” Denny (27-18) of Centennial, Colorado in a welterweight battle. Westcott, who has quickly captured a huge fan base in the MFC, called out Denny for the matchup, and the 12-year veteran of mixed martial arts responded by saying that Westcott’s dream fight may become his nightmare.
In addition to the lightweight title fight, two more lightweight tussles will certainly set the tone for future contenders in the 155-pound division.
Former reality show standout Richie “Hell Boy” Whitson (10-1), fighting out of Temecula, California, will put a four-fight winning streak on the line against Curtis “The Demon” Demarce (10-7) of Brandon, Manitoba, who arrived on the scene with a spectacular submission win at MFC 26.
The other lightweight fight on the main card pits a pair of MFC newcomers against each other. Former U.S. Navy petty officer Robert “The Beast” Washington (9-1) of East St. Louis, Missouri, is set to make a good first impression in his organizational debut, but he’ll face a tough test in Tyrone “T$” Glover (5-0), fighting out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. A newly rededicated Glover is returning to the sport after a layoff to complete his law studies and opening his own practice.
The televised main card is rounded out by a light-heavyweight encounter pitting former MFC champion Emanuel “The Hardcore Kid” Newton (13-6-1) of Long Beach, California, against rugged Rodney “Sho Nuff the Master” Wallace (10-3) of Charlotte, North Carolina. Newton, who took the title at MFC 19 as the highlight of an 11-fight unbeaten streak, is looking for redemption following his narrow decision loss to Dwayne Lewis at MFC 27, while Wallace is out for his second straight win after he scored the unanimous decision over David Heath in his impressive debut at MFC 27.

Three undercard fights will complete the lineup for MFC 28: Supremacy.
