Paulo Filho loses for the first time since leaving the WEC

Former WEC middleweight champion, Paulo Filho failed to live up to expectations once again this past Saturday night at the First Class Fight 5 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, losing to complete unknown, Marcos Rogerio de Lima in the main event.

Filho was unable to get the fight to the ground as de Lima dominated the stand-up and even came close to finishing the fight on one occasion. The fight was awarded to de Lima via unanimous decision.

The defeat was Filho’s first since leaving the WEC back in 2008, having picked up four wins and a controversial draw against Dennis Kang since. His only previous loss was to Chael Sonnen, which was his last fight with the promotion.
