Dan Henderson Won't Wait for Title Shot, Wants to Fight Again in April or May

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Dan Henderson will not be waiting for a title shot after he revealed that he wants to fight again in either April or May, adding even a heavyweight bout might interest him after stopping Fedor Emelianenko last year.

Hendo, speaking via ESPN.com, said:

“I don’t know what the plan is, but I’d fight whoever it is they think would be a good match-up. The problem is there’s really nobody right now who fits the bill for a title contention fight, that would make sense to fight me. I don’t know. Maybe I’d fight at a different weight class. I don’t know if they see anybody at heavyweight that would make sense? But I would prefer to fight someone in April or May. Who do the fans want me to fight at heavyweight? I’d have to think about that. I don’t know who at heavyweight would even make sense. The heavyweights that are in title contention right now wouldn’t want to fight me. I don’t know who is out there, but I did let the UFC know I’d be open to that as well.”

Nick Diaz Tests Positive for Marijuana, Dana White “beyond disappointed”

Posted on February 10,2012 in Featured Articles, More Articles

UFC welterweight contender, Nick Diaz has tested positive for marijuana following his UFC 143 title bout with Carlos Condit this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. The results were confirmed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director, Keith Kizer, who forwarded the results to a number of mixed martial arts sites.

Diaz will now have to appear before the commission to address the failed screening. Diaz also tested positive for marijuana following his 2007 win over Takanori Gomi at PRIDE 33. Diaz was suspended for six months, although this time he will be looking at a year as it’s his second offence with the same drug.

Dana White, speaking via a press release tonight, said:

“I am that he tested positive for marijuana. It is now in the hands of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.”

UFC President Dana White Confirms That Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz II is Set

Carlos Condit was prepared to sit out for several months and wait for Georges St-Pierre to heal, not anymore. Condit instead has agreed to an immediate rematch with Nick Diaz, according to tweets by UFC president Dana White on Tuesday night.

“That rematch can happen later on in the future. No one’s afraid of Nick, but we have to do what’s best for his career and in my opinion and the people around me and the advice that we’ve been taking, the best fight and the only fight is Georges St-Pierre,” Condit’s manager, Malki Kawa told MMAWeekly.com earlier in the day on Tuesday.

No details of the rematch was released, the promotion did reveal that UFC on FOX 4 is slated for August 4th in Los Angeles, CA. Fans could very well see Condit vs. Diaz II as the main event.

“I didn’t feel like it was all that close. I felt like I dominated almost every round,” said Condit following Saturday night’s initial meeting. Now we’ll get to see if he can do it again.

Cesar Gracie, posting via his Twitter account, said:

“@danawhite Nick would rematch in a heartbeat. No extra money needed. He is a true fighter and fights for his team and you fans.”
