Nike Signs UFC Champion, Jon “Bones” Jones to Global Sponsorship Deal

He might just be the best fighter on the planet right now, but he could soon become the most recognizable athlete in the world too, as UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has signed a global sponsorship deal with Nike. This is the first type of deal to be signed by a mixed martial artist. Reportedly ” Bones” signed a multi-year deal that will see him covered in Nike attire for his next fight on September 1st against Dan Henderson. The deal will also see Jones get his own signature line with the brand.

While UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has a deal with Nike in Brazil, Jones’ deal will be global. Many believed that a deal wouldn’t be possible after a DWI arrest earlier this year, but it appears that Nike was unfazed by the mistake made by Jones and is ready to promote him across the globe.

Jones is the youngest fighter to ever hold a UFC title at the age of 23. Jones has successfully defended his title a total of three times now and currently holds a 16-1 professional record. His lone loss came by DQ back in 2009 after throwing multiple illegal elbows to the face of Matt Hamill. It is widely known that Jones was on his way to victory before the DQ.
