Nate Marquardt Signs With Strikeforce, Could Debut Against Tyron Woodley

Nate Marquardt is back under the Zuffa LLC banner once again after it was revealed that the formerly top-ranked middleweight contender had signed a new deal with Strikeforce.

While nothing has been confirmed, it is thought that Marquardt will debut against Strikeforce’s number 1-ranked welterweight Tyron Woodleyand in the coming months. Rumours also suggest that the bout could be for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title.

Marquardt, posting via his Twitter account, said:

“@danawhite @lorenzofertitta thanks so much for the opportunity to prove myself!! I can’t wait!!! I also want to thank my fans for their continued support. You guys are the best! Thank u so much!”

Marquardt has not been seen since a unanimous decision win over Dan Miller in March 2011. He was released from the UFC 24 hours before a scheduled bout with Rick Story after being denied a licence to fight due to elevated testosterone levels.
