MFC Press conference; Welterweight title fight and stacked lineup

The Maximum Fighting Championship is unleashing its most exciting fight card in organization and we are extending an invitation to the media to attend the official press conference for MFC 27: Breaking Point.

The press conference will take place on Wednesday, November 10 at 2 p.m. at Lexus of Edmonton (11204-170 Street, 780-466-8300).
MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich will be the featured speaker at the press conference and he will be alongside the biggest names on the card including the two fighters vying for the MFC world welterweight title.

In the Breaking Point main event, two of the MFC’s best – Douglas “The Phenom” Lima and Jesse Juarez – will clash in a five-round battle for the championship belt. Lima (15-4) is coming off a sensational second-round submission victory over Ryan Ford at MFC 26 while Juarez (15-5) has shown an impressive all-round game in two wins inside the MFC ring.

The main card also features the most-highly anticipated rematch in MFC history as Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (12-3), who will be fighting in front of his legion of home-town fans, goes up against arch-rival Pete “The Secret Weapon” Spratt (21-18). These two welterweights waged a wild war of words prior to their initial encounter at MFC 15 back in February 2008 – a fight that Ford won with a second-round submission though the bout was marred controversy by when Ford struck Spratt twice after the bell to conclude Round 1. The ill-will has lingered since and the explosive rage will finally detonate again at MFC 27.

MFC 27 will also feature a pair of high-profile light heavyweight bouts which will certainly put a stamp on the top contenders for the 205-pound title. In one matchup, the pride of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis (11-5) will look to solidify his reputation as the MFC’s heaviest hitting knockout artist when he takes on highly respected newcomer “Razor” Razak Al-Hassan (11-2), a product of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who will ride a four-fight winning streak into his MFC debut. And in the other light heavyweight showdown, crowd favorite and co-winner of the MFC’s 2009 Fight of the Year David Heath (16-6), a Tulsa, Oklahoma, native who is coming off a devastating knockout of Solomon Hutcherson at MFC 26, will shoot for his second straight big finish when he takes on powerhouse Brazilian striker Glover Teixeira (10-2).

Rounding out the main card are two more explosive bouts. In lightweight action, energetic fireball “Ragin” Kajan Johnson (17-11-1) of Burns Lake, B.C., eyes a step up in the MFC ranks as he meets Brazilian newcomer Orestes “Furacao” Betran (13-4). Kicking things off is a clash of super-sized heavyweights as six-foot-seven Ryan “The Vanilla Gorilla” Fortin (4-3) of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, collides with six-foot-five Ron “The Monster” Sparks (6-0) of Louisville, Kentucky – a matchup that puts more than 500 pounds of ultra-aggressive athlete in the ring at once.

The live fight card will take place on Friday, November 12 at the River Cree Resort and Casino, just outside Edmonton, Alberta. The MFC 27: Breaking Point card brings together the most action-packed lineup in the history of the Maximum Fighting Championship. The main card will air live on HDNet Fights, MFC’s broadcasting partner, throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The undercard will feature three fights.
