Knee surgery delays Mauricio “Shogun” Rua’s first title defence vs. Rashad Evans

New UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua had to undergo knee surgery he picked up at UFC 113 vs. Lyoto Machida, shelving and postponing his first title defence vs. Rashad Evans.

Dana White, speaking to MMAWeekly.com, said:

“He had the surgery in L.A. He’s gonna do all his therapy in Vegas. So he’s gonna be in Vegas for the next five weeks. He needed (surgery) after the fight. He got hurt in the fight.”
