Josh Barnett vs. “Mondragon” at Impact Fighting Championship in Australia

It looks like Strikeforce will not be following in the footsteps of the UFC and heading to Australia for the first time ever, infact Impact Fighting Championship instead host the event headlined by Josh Barnett and Gerônimo “Mondragon” Dos Santos.

“Mondragon”, speaking via Tatame Magazine, said:

“I’m sorry, I was wrong. I signed the contract, the fight will be against Josh Barnett, but it’ll be at Impact MMA, a new event in Australia… If I win I’ll sign with Strikeforce, I’m so thrilled that I said everything wrong (laughs).”

“Mondragon”, speaking via Tatame Magazine, said:

“I signed the contract today, I’m very thrilled with the news. He’s experienced, is very good on the ground, there’s no comparison, but I’ll try to keep it up. He’s not that good standing, so that’s where I have to work on. I’m going for the knockout, I’ll win this fight. I want to catch my fans, I have to win. This fight will be mine. I’m training for a good fight.”

“Mondragon’s” eight fight win streak came to an end due to a loss due to an abdominal injury suffered in February.

While, Barnett fought for the first time in over a year defeated K-1 vet, “Mighty Mo” Siliga at DREAM 13 last month.
