UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo has revealed that a medical suspension picked up while competing in Canada just last month is the reason he won’t be taking on Chad Mendes on the UFC 133 card on August 6th in Philadelphia, not injury. It was reported yesterday that Aldo had been forced to withdraw from his UFC 133 bout with Chad Mendes due to injury something the champion himself today dismissed.
Aldo, posting via his Twitter account, said:
“Let me be clear I’m not hurt again, I’m not hurt. I picked up a suspension (from) the Canadian commission and therefore should only return to training (after) 30 days this month. So once again, I’m not injured.”
Aldo revealed that he won’t be ready for the event in Philadelphia but would be able to compete on the next Pay-Per-View which goes down in his home country of Brazil just three weeks later. We will have to wait and see if Mendes will wait until August 6th or forego his shot at the title.
