Jose Aldo eyes March return, has no idea who he will face for featherweight title

UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo is targeting a March return to action after being forced to pull out of his New Year’s Day octagon debut in Las Vegas, Nevada, adding he has no clue who he’ll be facing after number one contender, Josh Grispi lost just this past weekend at UFC 125.

Aldo, speaking via Tatame Magazine, said:

“Thank God everything’s going just fine. I’m doing all the treatment, I’m focused on my physiotherapy and I’m sure everything’s going to be okay. I was supposed to do my first belt defense, but unfortunately I couldn’t do it, but I believe that within a month I’ll be 100%. I believe that in March I’ll be ready to defend my belt for the first time, but I’m still only doing physiotherapy.”

“Now I don’t know what is going to happen, who is going to be my opponent. With Grispi’s loss I have no idea who I will face. There will be an event on Jan 22nd, let’s wait and see what happens. His loss surprised me. I was expecting him to win, he had only one defeat and I already had seen many of his fights in WEC and he always performed well, that’s it, fight is fight and now we will wait to see who is my next adversary.”

“It changes nothing for me, I keep doing my work in the same way. My routine in UFC will be the same as it was in WEC. What changed was just the name that was WEC and now is UFC. I look to face it so in order to go ahead in my career. The anxiety was much bigger because I was going to fight in January but it ended up cancelled. Now I’m more calm, unwind, just waiting for them to schedule my first UFC title defense.”
