We revealed earlier this week that the UFC released TUF 8 lightweight winner, Efrain Escudero from his contract, now it looks another fellow lightweight has been cut aswell.
John Gunderson fought at UFC Fight Night 22 last week dropping a convincing unanimous decision to Yves Edwards, and today confirmed the release. The former IFL veteran put together a 1-2 record inside the Octagon with his sole victory coming via decision over Mark Holst.
Gunderson had suggested that he would retire if cut by the UFC, but speaking to MMAJunkie.com he seems to have had a change of heart:
“My body feels good, and I feel like I have a couple of years left. I feel I can still perform. The UFC has said they’d be happy to have me back after I pick up a couple of wins.”
