Bellator middleweight champion, Hector Lombard will likely defend his belt against number one contender, Alexander Shlemenko at Bellator 34 in Florida on October 28th., 2010. The bout of course will rely heavily on whether Lombard is healthy enough to compete as he will take on Herbert Goodman in a non-title fight at Bellator 24 tonight.
Lombard (26-2-1) became the first ever Bellator middleweight champion when he stopped Jared Hess in the fourth round at Bellator 12. Most recently he knocked out Jay Silva within six seconds of the first at Bellator 18 and is riding one of the longest unbeaten runs in mixed martial arts histor, not losign a fight since dropping a unanimous decision to Gegard Mousasi at PRIDE Bushido 13 in 2006.
Alexander Shlemenko is also on a fine run boatsing an impressive professional record of 30-4, and having only lost one fight in three years, a KO loss to Jordan Radev in 2009.
