Gilbert Melendez vs. Jim Miller for the First UFC vs. Strikeforce “Super-Fight”

A huge rumor has surfaced today pitting current Strikeforce lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez against UFC top rated star, Jim Miller, as Zuffa attempts to put together their first ever UFC vs. Strikeforce super fight before the end of this year. According to @JonLutherMMA on Twitter, and re-Tweeted by Loretta, Zuffa is looking to put together the fight as soon as the two men agree. It is likely that Melendez would cross over to the UFC for the fight in question.

Melendez is considered the number one lightweight in the world by many, he has taken that spot by defeating all challengers outside of the octagon, most recently he stopped top-rated Japanese star, Tatsuya Kawajiri just last weekend in San Diego. Prior to that he defeated DREAM lightweight champion, Shinya Aoki, also considered one of the top lightweights in the world.

Miller has been taken a few names himself as of late, winning his last seven fights inside the octagon including a decision over Mark Bocek and a submission win over Charles Oliveira. He was awaiting the result of the Clay Guida vs. Anthony Pettis fight in June before deciding his next move, but will most likely jump at the chance to face one of the best 155 got to offer.
