Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard talk integration of the WEC lightweights

UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar and UFC lightweight number one contender, Gray Maynard have both face a massive task to remain on top of the division with the challenges that the WEC fighters bring to the table.

Edgar, speaking via ESPN.co.uk, Edgar remarked on the recent highlight showtime kick landed by WEC champ, Anthony Pettis, saying:

“I saw bits and pieces [of the Pettis fight]. I definitely saw the kick man. It was all over ESPN. I thought the kick was great, it was all over the news. All over ESPN and great for the sport. They’re tough guys. They’re going to pose some big challenges for us.”

Maynard, speaking via MMAWeekly.com, said:

“I mean, if I was them, I would want (more time) of course just because that’s a huge switch over. Just kind of ease your way into it, that’s how I would (do it). But it ain’t up to me, whatever they do I’ll take that fight.”
