Fabricio Werdum vs. Mike Russow at UFC 147 in Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 16th

Fabricio Werdum asked and he shall receive, since hearing about the UFC’s return to Brazil he requested a fight on home soil and now at UFC 147, he’ll get it, as the Brazilian heavyweight meets Mike Russow in Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 16th, 2012. A venue has yet to be finalized for the event, which airs live on pay-per-view.

Werdum looked great in his octagon return back in February, defeating Roy Nelson via unanimous decision. Prior to that he shot up the heavyweight rankings, defeating the formerly ranked number one fighter on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko in the opening round of the Strikeforce world grand-prix to go on and lose a disappointing bout to Alistair Overeem in the quarter-finals of the same tournament.

Russow, a full time Chicago police officer, recently defeated ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion, Jon Olav Einemo at UFC on FOX 2 in January. The win extended his winning streak to eleven fights, four of which were inside the octagon.
