Erik Koch Injured, Frankie Edgar Set For His 7th Straight Title Fight on Oct. 13th

Former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar will compete in his seventh straight title fight, this time in the featherweight division as he takes on current champ, Jose Aldo at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 13th, 2012. The UFC confirmed the news themselves, adding Aldo’s original opponent, Erik Koch, suffered an injury in training this past week.

Aldo has ran through the ranks of the UFC, defeating Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian and most recently handed Chad Mendes his first professional MMA loss, a first round TKO in Brazil.

Edgar, who is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, will look to bounce back from extremely controversial back-to-back losses to UFC lightweight champ, Benson Henderson in 2012. Prior to that he defeated the likes of BJ Penn and Gray Maynard on two separate occasions a pair.
