Dennis Siver On Temporary Suspension

UFC featherweight Dennis Siver has been issued a temporary suspension by the Nevada athletic commission on Tuesday after he tested positive for the banned substance Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) following UFC 168 in December.

The suspension comes as the commission prepares to make a case against Siver in for the upcoming hearing. At that time, state deputy attorney general Christopher Eccles will present Siver’s lab report, and Siver will have the opportunity to defend himself.

hCG is a hormone that often used to increase testosterone production, Eccles noted during his brief presentation to the commission on Tuesday. Commission members voted unanimously to issue a temporary ban, which is routinely honored by every commission in the country as well as by the UFC when the promotion sanctions itself internationally.

In a recent public statement, Siver blamed a supplement recommended to him by a new trainer that was assisting him with his diet and weight-cutting efforts. In that statement, Siver said he was “shocked” by the positive result.
