Dana White: Abu Dhabi 2011 event still possible, rules out Afghanistan

UFC President, Dana White has revealed that an event in Abu Dhabi is still possible before the end of 2011 following the cancellation of the proposed March event, as well as dismissing a potential trip to Afghanistan indefinitely for the time being.

White, speaking via MMAJunkie.com, said:

“We’re still working on [Abu Dhabi]. There’s some places we’re still working on. We have this huge board where we put all the dates and the fights and the possible matchups. There’s a lot of ‘TBDs’ on there. Abu Dhabi, we can pull that off in a couple of months. We did it last time. They built a stadium that didn’t exist was there when we showed up. We can do anything there. That place is like Fantasy Island. There isn’t anything you can’t do there.”

On the possibility of going to Afghanistan in the coming year, White said:

“We had a place, but the place got bombed really bad, and they put us off indefinitely. When the U.S. military says we can go in, we’ll go. We’re ready. I’d do it tomorrow if they tell us to.”
