Cung Le Retires From MMA

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion and current UFC fighter, Cung Le let it be known to the public this week that he is quitting the sport of MMA after a difficult year, leaving him with a loss to Michael Bisping, and a positive test for banned substances only to have it reversed and take his employers to court in a ground breaking lawsuit.

Le’s manager, Gary Ibarra, told sources that Le’s retirement only goes as far as the cage, leaving open the possibility of a return to kickboxing. Several weeks ago, Ibarra said Le wrote the UFC announcing his retirement but before that was an active part of the promotion’s active roster.

This past month, Le was named as a plaintiff in a class-action lawsuit against the industry-leader alleging it engaged in anti-competitive business practices. He was the only active UFC fighter attached to the litigation, which the promotion has promised to vigorously contest.
