Couture/Machida and Aldo/Hominick confirmed for UFC 129 in Toronto, ON

A couple of big fights have been confirmed today for UFC 129 from The Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on April 30th, 2011, as the legendary, Randy Couture takes on dangerous karate ace, Lyoto Machida while featherweight champion, Jose Aldo defends his title against Canadian, Mark Hominick.

Couture is on a solid three-fight winning streak after dropping to 205lbs. defeating Brandon Vera via unanimous decision and Mark Coleman via second round submission before moving back to heavyweight defeatng boxing champion, James Toney via first round submission. Machida’s reign as champion was cut short by fellow Brazilian, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in May, a fight he lost via first round TKO. He returned to the octagon to face fellow former champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and lost that one as well this time via split decision.

Aldo has ran through the 145lb division over the past year, defeating the likes of Urijah Faber, Mike Brown and Manny Gamburyan in impressive fashion. The talent that the Brazilian possesses has made him a real contender for the “pound for pound” crown. Hominick is on a five fight winning streak including a decision win over former title contender, Leonard Garcia and most recently defeated George Roop to take back the number one contenders position in the division with an impressive first round TKO.
