Chris Lytle vs. Brian Ebersole at UFC 127, hopes GSP doesn’t move up in weight, wants his shot

UFC veteran, Chris Lytle has found himself a new opponent in the form of Australian stand-out, Brian Ebersole when the promotion heads Down Under later this month for the second time for UFC 127. And not only has he found an opponent but may be looking past him, after he revealed today that he hopes long-time UFC champion, Georges St-Pierre doesn’t move to the middleweight division for a super fight with Anderson Silva any time soon because he wants his shot at the Canadian first.

Lytle, speaking to Duane Finley, said:

“Without a doubt I want to fight St. Pierre. I don’t think it’s going to happen but if Georges gets beat by Jake Shields…if he slips and falls on his way into the cage, hits his head and gets beat by him I’d still like to fight St. Pierre. I’d love the title but in my opinion Georges St. Pierre is the best fighter right now and I’d like to fight the best. I want to test myself and I’d like to see how I would do against him because in my opinion he’s the best and that’s who I want to fight. I really hope he doesn’t go up to 185 lbs. so I’ll get that chance.”

36-year old, Lytle remains one of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster, he has won his last four fights inside the octagon and was last seen defeating former 170 pound champion, Matt Serra via unanimous decision at UFC 119 just last month. Ebersole has racked up eleven wins in his last twelve fights since moving from the U.S. to Australia, with that sole loss coming at the hands of Bellator middleweight champion, Hector Lombard.
