#1 Contenders Fight! Frank Mir vs. Cain Velasquez as Co-Main Event at UFC 146

A number one contender match between former UFC heavyweight champions, Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez has been confirmed for UFC 146 in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 26th, 2012. The fight was just confirmed by the Las Vegas based promotion and will be on the main card of the evening alongside two other massive heavyweight bouts; Junior dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem and Roy Nelson vs. Antonio “Big Foot” Silva.

Mir has turned his career around over the past year, putting on 20 to 25 lbs, due to the strength and conditioning program that he had undertaken to largely improve his muscular frame to become one of the biggest heavyweights in the division and defeating the likes of Mirko Cro Cop, Roy Nelson and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Velasquez was last seen losing his UFC heavyweight title via knock out in the very first round to Brazilian heavy hitter, Junior dos Santos. Prior to that he defeated the likes of Cheick Kongo, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Brock Lesnar to win that very same strap.
