BJ Penn vs. Jon Fitch and George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver at UFC 127

UFC President, Dana White made the announcement at the UFC 123 post-fight press conference that the UFC have booked two mega fights for UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia on February 27th following last night’s UFC 123 event in Detroit, Michigan with former lightweight and welterweight champion, BJ Penn set to go one-on-one with welterweight contender, Jon Fitch and Australian grappling sensation, George Sotriopoulos facing German heavy hitter, Dennis Siver.

Penn rebounded from back-to-back defeats at lightweight to current champion, Frankie Edgar by destroying long-time rival, Matt Hughes in just twenty-one seconds via TKO. Fitch has put together an impressive string of wins and was due to face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 126, although White says he’ll now find him a new opponent.

Sotiropoulos has gone 7-0 inside the octagon following last nights impressive second round submission win over Joe Lauzon. This follows wins over top contenders, Joe Stevenson and Kurt Pellegrino. Siver recently stopped Andre Winner at UFC 122, picking up the “Submission of the Night” bonus in the process to move to 5-1 inside the octagon.
