Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida and “Kid” vs. Darren Uyenoyama at UFC on FOX

A potential lightweight number one contenders match between former WEC champion, Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce champion, Clay Guida will go down most likely as the co-main event of the UFC on FOX show in Anaheim, California on November 12th, 2011. Verbal agreements are said to be in place with the official paperwork likely to be issued shortly. A bantamweight bout between top rated Japanese contender, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and promotional newcomer, Darren Uyenoyama has also been announced for the UFC on FOX event.

Henderson has rocketed into title contention in the UFC with impressive unanimous decision wins over the likes of Mark Bocek and Jim Miller this year, enabling him to bounce back from the loss to Anthony Pettis in the final fight in WEC history. Guida has pushed himself firmly into the mix at 155 pounds following his grinding performance against Anthony Pettis over three rounds at the beginning of this month. He is expected to have to take another fight at least to secure a shot at the title with the likes of Jim Miller ahead of him in the pecking order.

Yamamoto will be looking to put on a better showing second time around after getting out-wrestled by Demetrious Johnson on the UFC 126 card last month. He had been thought to be a major threat for the title prior to this one. Uyenoyama enters the octagon with a 6-3 record as a professional and was last seen defeating Shuichiro Katsumura via TKO at a Shooto event in Japan. This will be a major leap up the ladder for someone with so little experience, especially in his octagon debut.
