Benavidez vs. Johnson and Bisping vs. Stann at UFC 152 in Toronto, Ontario

The UFC’s first ever flyweight champion will be crowned at UFC 152 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on September 22nd, 2012, as Joseph Benavidez takes on Demetrious Johnson in the main event of the evening. Also middleweight rivals, Michael Bisping and Brian Stann will meet in the co-main event of the evening. UFC officials announced the fights on Friday.

Benavidez booked his place in the finals with an impressive second round TKO win over Yasuhiro Urushitani at UFC on FX 3 in Sydney, Australia. Johnson battled Ian McCall to a draw that same night and therefore had to engage in a rematch that he went on to win by unanimous decision.

Bisping was due to face Tim Boetsch at UFC 149 before injury ruled him out. He was last seen losing via unanimous decision to Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2 and prior to that he won four straight. Stann was expected to headline UFC on FOX 4 in August against former Bellator middleweight champion, Hector Lombard but was forced out due to injury. He is currently 1-1 in his last two bouts inside the octagon, losing to Chael Sonnen before rebounding with a win over Alessio Sakara.
