Bellator 17: Roger Huerta returns May 6th in Boston

Bellator Fighting Championships lightweight contender Roger Huerta (21-3-1 MMA, 1-0 BFC) will return to action on May 6th at Bellato 17 which takes place at the Wang Theatre in Boston.

Huerta’s opponent semifinal bout will be announced at Tuesday’s press conference in Boston.

Huerta advanced to Bellator’s season-two lightweight semifinals by defeating Chad Hinton via a kneebar submission in the third round at Bellator 13 on April 8th, 2010.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, speaking to MMAjunkie, said:

“We have it set up that away to protect against the potential of suspensions from the applicable commissions.”

“The reality is three fights in three months can be a grind, especially when you have really high-quality guys making up your divisions.”

Bellator 17 also features a lightweight non-title superfight between Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and UFC vet Josh Neer.

“There is huge anticipation building in the MMA world for our May 6 show in Boston,” Rebney stated. “The Alvarez-Neer fight pits two of the most exciting lightweights in the world, and no matter who Roger Huerta fights in the semifinals of the lightweight tournament, it’s sure to be a compelling, electrifying fight.”
