Arthur Guseinov Steps in at M-1 Challenge XXII

Injuries are a part of the daily grind in the sport of mixed martial arts and being called upon as a replacement fighter in the time of need is what differentiates one’s fighting spirit. Upon hearing his calling, the 15-1 Arthur Guseinov elected to rise to the occasion and step in to replace an injured Shahrijar Abassov at M-1 Challenge XXII; the talented striker with a formidable karate background will face the tough-as-iron Luigi ‘The Italian Tank’ Fioravanti (18-8) in middleweight collision as part of M-1 Global’s 2010 close-out event. The entire card and all its ensuing battles can be captured LIVE online at the official M-1 website, starting AT THE REVISED TIME OF 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST for free.

The Action-Force Fight Team member packs lightning-quick striking abilities and is known for his tight clinch work, deadly spinning back-kicks and head-hunting kicks to the cranium which have racked up the majority of his KO / TKO victories. Since making his professional debut in October 2005, the crafty technician has ended all his bouts in the first round except for one; the lone decision victory came against the credible Magomed “The White Wolf” Sultanakhmedov, who eerily enough is competing on the same card against Rafal Moks for the M-1 Challenge middleweight championship belt.

Guseinov will surely rely on his striking arsenal and open the bout with a blitzkrieg attack to overwhelm the staunch American fighter; but Fioravanti looked phenomenal in his last outing against Woody Weatherby, securing a first-round TKO victory of his own. To add fuel to the bout’s hype, Fioravanti aptly declared in a recent interview that he intends to give Guseinov “the beating of a lifetime” on route to handing him the second loss of his career.

The ‘what-if’ implications of this battle can be discussed till dawn but first at hand is Guseinov’s necessity to thwart Fioravanti dead in his tracks at M-1 Challenge XXII. Should Guseinov stop ‘The Italian Tank’ and Sultanakhmedov take the belt in the very same night, it would be interesting to see if the ‘White Wolf’ requests to avenge the most recent of his four career losses in a future title defense. But either way, ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a full-blown fight at hand.

Fans around the world can catch the middleweight battle at the Druzhba Arena in Moscow, Russia LIVE and for free on Friday December 10th by tuning in to the official M-1 website, starting 11:00am EST / 8:00am PST.
