Anderson Silva’s Denies Injury Rumors, UFC 162 Against Chris Weidman Will Go Ahead

Rumors of injuries have been circling all day but it is now confirmed that rumors of UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva having broken his ribs and being unable to compete in the UFC 162 clash with Chris Weidman on July 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada, are untrue and that the fight will go ahead as planned.

MMA Fighting spoke to Silva’s camp, which emphatically denied the rumors. UFC President Dana White also denied the rumor, telling Ariel Helwani it’s “not true.”

Silva’s last fight came in the light heavyweight division last October, defeating Stephan Bonnar via TKO in the very first round. His last title defence was July 7th, 2012, defeating Chael Sonnen by second round TKO in their highly anticipated rematch.

Weidman is currently undefeated in his MMA career and has picked up wins over the likes of Alessio Sakara, Tom Lawlor, Demian Maia and most recently, Mark Munoz. He was set to face Tim Boetsch at UFC 155 before a shoulder injury forced him out.
