Alistair Overeem vs. Todd Duffee finally official for Dynamite!! 2010 in Japan

After a couple of weeks of speculation the main event for this Friday’s Dynamite!! 2010 show in Japan has been confirmed, as Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem takes on UFC record holder, Todd Duffee for what will likely be the DREAM heavyweight title.

The promotion announced the fight today during a press conference in Japan, with Esther Lin of All Elbows relaying the matchup via Twitter. Duffee raised a few smiles at the presser by donning a t-shirt that read “Doubt Me”.

Duffee made a spectacular octagon debut, knocking out Tim Hague in just seven seconds to put himself immediately on the radar. He reappeared seven months later to take on veteran, Mike Russow and after dominating for three rounds found himself knocked out in the center of the octagon. Duffee hasn’t been in action since he was cut from the UFC earlier this year due to his “bad attitude”.

Overeem has recently captured the K-1 World Grand Prix title to add to his Strikeforce heavyweight title, becoming the first MMA champion to win the K-1 championship and hold both titles simultaneously and is something which has received mixed reactions from the fans.
