Alistair Overeem Not Going to Jail, Sentenced 50 Hrs Community Service

Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem avoided jail time today, instead the number one contender was sentenced to fifty hours of community service and to undergo anger-management counselling, stemming from an incident at a Las Vegas nightclub on New Year’s weekend.

Overeem, who faces Junior dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 146 on May 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada, also received a suspended ninety day sentence. If Overeem follows through with what he’s been sentenced, the matter will be dropped.

Overeem was not in attendance in court today but was instead across town at a press conference at the MGM Grand to announce the high profile fight. He was accused of shoving a woman causing her to “stagger back”.
