Alistair Overeem Injured, Junior Dos Santos Fight Delayed Until Later This Year

Former Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1 champion, Alistair Overeem has been forced out of his UFC 160 co-main event bout with former UFC heavyweight champ, Junior dos Santos on May 25th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Overeem has revealed that a slightly torn quad muscle is what rendered him incapable of fighting. UFC President, Dana White has revealed that Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos will simply be rearranged.

Overeem, posting via his Twitter account, said:

“Injured! Caught a slightly tear in my quad muscle so unfortunatly out of may 25’s UFC. Not happy to let you guys ‘the fans’ down!”

Dos Santos is coming off a five-round unanimous decision defeat at the hands of current champion, Cain Velasquez. Prior to that he stopped Frank Mir and Roy Nelson.

Overeem was stopped early in the third round by Antonio “Big Foot” Silva. Prior to that he defeated Brock Lesnar via first round TKO before taking a year off due to failing a drugs test.
