Alexander Gustafsson Likely To Face Anthony Johnson Next

Alexander Gustafsson is alittle ticked off that Daniel Cormier will get his fight against light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 182 on Jan. 3, 2015, but thats not going to change anything. Gustafsson lost his rematch against Jones at UFC 178 due to an injury. Cormier took his place for the Sept. 27 bout but Jones then obtained an injury of his own.

UFC officials chose to reschedule the face off for Jan. 3, but kept Cormier as the opponent instead of putting Gustafsson back in.

UFC president Dana White told sources on Thursday that Gustafsson sitting out isn’t likely something that will happen either. He will most likely be matched up with Anthony Johnson.

Heres whbat White had to say on the matter:

“Gustafsson is upset, but it’s not like we took Gustafsson out of the fight. Gustafsson got hurt and he’s out, Cormier stepped in and accepted the fight and this is the fight that is going to happen now. Gustafsson will probably fight again, He’ll probably fight again to stay active, stay top of mind, and the guy has to make money.”

Gustafsson obviously wasn’t too happy with this response because heres what he said in return:

“It was MY fight to begin with and I WANT the fight!”
