135 pound women’s champion, Marloes Coenen will put her title on the line against number one contender, Miesha Tate in the co-main event of the evening on March 5th.
Tate, posting on her Twitter account, said:
“It’s confirmed my fight is set for March 5th in Columbus OH vs Marloes Coenen for my shot at the Strikeforce 135lb title.”
Coenen moved down to 135 pounds after an unsuccessful attempt to take Cris “Cyborg” Santos’ title in January of last year. She was however granted an immediate title shot against the then undefeated Sarah Kaufman in October and walked away with her hand raised. Tate is currently riding a five-fight winning streak and earned her shot at the gold when she won a four-woman/one-night tournament back in August.
