Luke Rockhold cleared by CSAC doctor into UFC 199, has grade II MCL sprain

After Luke Rockhold revealed Thursday that he’d been battling an MCL injury, he had to clear a medical exam with the California State Athletic Commission in order to compete on Saturday’s UFC 199 card.

It seems the injury’s not so severe at the moment, as CSAC doctor Diego Allende cleared him to compete on Friday, stating it was a grade II sprain.

“As far as his physical exam, no, [there is no evidence of an MCL tear],” Allende said in comments made to MMAJunkie.com. “He has good stability, good range of motion; he cleared completely on the examination. I have all the confidence in the world that that won’t be an issue in his competition tomorrow night.”
